The Boeing Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) combines a magnetic head tracker with a display projected onto the pilot's visor, giving the pilot a targeting device that can be used to aim sensors and weapons wherever the pilot is looking.
With JHMCS, the pilot can aim the radar, air-to-air missiles, infrared sensors and air-to-ground weapons merely by observing the target through the helmet's visor and pressing a switch on the flight controls. Additionally, the pilot can view any desired data (airspeed, altitude, target range, etc.) while "heads-up," eliminating the need to look into the cockpit during visual air combat.
The High Off-Boresight Seeker (HOBS) consists of the new JHMCS and the new AIM-9X high off-boresight air-to-air missile.

The AIM-9X is an advanced short-range dogfight weapon that can intercept airborne targets located at high off-boresight lines-of-sight relative to the shooter, providing a weapon with a short-range intercept envelope significantly larger than any air-to-air weapon in use today.
The HOBS system (the combination of JHMCS and AIM-9X) results in a weapon that can attack and destroy nearly any airborne enemy seen by the pilot. Additionally, this weapon can be employed without maneuvering the aircraft, minimizing the time spent in the threat environment.

The JHMCS will be deployed on the RMAF F/A18D Hornet.
With the Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS), the AIM-9X allows the F-18D pilot to attack and destroy any airborne enemy with only pointing his head at the target without having to manoeuvre the aircraft.
According to industry sources, Malaysia is going to procure 20 AIM-9X Block II, JDAM ammunition and JHMCS in one package under the F-18D upgrade plan.
The contract covers design, development and installation of retrofit kits that will provide enhanced navigation, targeting and situational awareness. The upgrade program includes:
• GPS improvements
• A color, moving-map cockpit display
• Identification Friend or Foe Interrogation capabilities
• Addition of the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System
• Maintenance and air crew training for these systems.
“These upgrades will deliver enhanced capability for the RMAF fleet to remain effective, interoperable with allies and operationally relevant for years to come,” said Julie Praiss, Boeing Global Services & Support director of Tactical Aircraft & Weapons Support. “Boeing looks forward to our continued partnership with the Royal Malaysian Air Force and the U.S. Navy to ensure that these F/A-18Ds continue to serve Malaysia’s strike and interdiction mission needs.”
The upgrades also make the RMAF’s F/A-18Ds more compatible with the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, which Boeing is offering to meet Malaysia’s Multi-Role Combat Aircraft needs.

As we know RMAF Hornets have been use in OPS Daulat as a close air support and interdiction roles. Successfully bomb the hell out of them Kirams men to kingdom come and more.
In the case of F/A-18 D Hornet the two GBU-16 Paveway II – Mk 83 first time being fired in anger by the RMAF strike Suluk Terrorist target with greater accuracy thus this leap in accuracy brought about primarily by laser guidance made it possible to take out heavily defended, point objectives target such as the Suluk Terrorist Defended position in Kampung Tanduo, without any risk towards friendly unit that prepared to sweep and cleanse the Red Zone Area.
So many way to serve tea.
The extent of this upgrades is unknown to the public but i guess RMAF Hornet maritime strike capabilities will also benefit from this.
In any case Kudos to RMAF.
